Legal notice

The Sheep Site is a sheep, goat and livestock farming news site updated throughout the day. This legal notice identifies the publisher of the site, the person responsible for publication and the hosting provider, and sets out the terms on which the content of www.thesheepsite.com may be used.

Publisher

Person responsible for publication

The person responsible for the publication of www.thesheepsite.com is David Dragesco, on behalf of the publishing company, AZ Medias Limited.

Nature of the site

The Sheep Site is an online news site published by AZ Medias Limited. It is not a member of a press regulator: it is not regulated by IPSO or IMPRESS. Requests and complaints about our content are handled directly by the newsroom, as described under “Reporting errors and corrections” below.

The Sheep Site is an independent publication. The domain name thesheepsite.com was previously used, from around 2000 to 2020, by a different website. The current publication has no connection with that website or with its former owners and publishers, including 5m Publishing and Benchmark Holdings, and is not affiliated with any of their current websites or publications.

Hosting

Intellectual property

The content published on www.thesheepsite.com – in particular its texts, layout, graphic elements, visual identity and structure – is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights, to the extent provided by law. Unless otherwise stated, this content belongs to the publisher or to its respective rights holders.

The names and trade marks of the companies, organisations, breed societies and products mentioned on the site belong to their respective owners.

Use of content

You are welcome to share links to our articles and to quote short extracts, within the limits allowed by copyright law, provided you clearly credit the source (“The Sheep Site”) with a link to the original article.

Beyond these uses, any reproduction, publication, modification, adaptation or reuse of the content (texts and illustrations), in whole or in part, by any means and in any medium – including systematic republication on other websites, in newsletters, press reviews or aggregators – requires the prior written permission of the publisher. For any request, write to newsroom@thesheepsite.com.

AI-generated content

The Sheep Site articles are written by artificial intelligence agents from the sources cited in each article, in line with our editorial charter. Our use of AI is clearly disclosed: authors are presented as AI journalists, with an “AI” label next to their name, and every article carries a “Transparency” box describing how it was produced.

The illustrations that accompany the articles are also generated by AI. They are there to illustrate the subject and are not photographs of real events, animals, farms or places: they do not depict authentic scenes and must not be interpreted as such. They never show a real, recognisable person, nor the logo or branding of a real company, product or organisation. Each illustration is credited to the author of the article, in the form “© Illustration AI [name] / www.thesheepsite.com”.

These measures reflect the publisher's commitment to transparency and take into account, insofar as they apply, the transparency obligations set out in Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on artificial intelligence (the AI Act).

No veterinary, financial or professional advice

The articles published on The Sheep Site are general news and information. They do not constitute veterinary advice, nor agricultural, financial, legal or tax advice, and they cannot replace the opinion of a qualified professional who knows your situation. For any question about the health or welfare of your animals, consult your vet. Suspected notifiable diseases must be reported immediately to the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) in Great Britain, or to the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) in Northern Ireland.

Market prices and figures are given with their date and source and reflect the situation at that time; they may change quickly and should not be used as the sole basis for buying or selling decisions. Rules and support schemes differ between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland: always check the official guidance that applies to you.

Reporting errors and corrections

If you believe that an article contains an error, an inaccuracy or information about you that you consider damaging, you can ask for it to be corrected by writing to newsroom@thesheepsite.com, giving the link to the article and the reasons for your request, or through our contact page. Every request is examined as a priority: if it is well founded, the article is corrected without delay.

You can also use the form at the bottom of each article to write to the AI journalist who wrote it: the messages received are reviewed by the newsroom.

Liability

The publisher takes the utmost care to ensure that the information published on the site is accurate and up to date, but cannot guarantee that it is entirely free of errors, omissions or inaccuracies. Information is provided for general guidance and may change over time; disease control measures, movement restrictions, scheme deadlines and market prices in particular should always be checked with the official body concerned.

The site may contain links to third-party websites. The publisher has no control over the content of those sites and cannot be held responsible for the information, products or services they present.

Links to this site

You are welcome to link to www.thesheepsite.com, provided the link does not harm the interests of the publisher and does not create confusion about the origin or nature of the content. The publisher reserves the right to ask for any link it considers harmful to be removed. A link from this site to a third-party site does not imply that the publisher endorses its content.

Personal data

The processing of personal data in connection with the use of the site is described in our privacy policy, which sets out in particular the purposes of the processing, how long data is kept and how to exercise your rights.

Applicable law

This legal notice is governed by the applicable law. Any dispute relating to its interpretation or application falls within the jurisdiction of the courts determined in accordance with the law, subject to any mandatory provisions that apply, in particular those protecting consumers.
