USDA Weekly National Sheep Summary - 8 August 2014
Weekly Trends: Compared to last week slaughter lambs were steady to 10.00 lower. Slaughter ewes were mostly steady. Feeder lambs were uneven, firm to 5.00 higher at San Angelo, TX and steady to 5.00 lower at Sioux Falls, SD. At San Angelo, TX 5327 head sold in a one day sale. Equity Electronic Auction sold 340 slaughter lambs in North Dakota. In direct trading slaughter ewes not tested and no comparison on feeder lambs. 5800 head of negotiated sales of slaughter lambs under 170 lbs were steady to 2.00 higher and 6400 head of formula sales of carcasses under 55 lbs were not well tested; 55-65 lbs were 3.00-4.00 lower; 65-75 lbs were 4.00-5.00 lower; 75-85 lbs were 3.00-4.00 higher and over 85 lbs were not well tested. 4,923 lamb carcasses sold with 45 lbs and down 19.61 lower; 45-65 lbs 1.51-3.19 lower and 65 lbs and up 1.37-2.07 higher. All sheep sold per hundred weight (CWT) unless otherwise specified.
