AUSTRALIA - Thursday markets reported higher throughput of good quality lambs, says Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA).

Lamb consignments at Hamilton jumped 84 per cent, to 14,793 head and a CTLX number lifted 21 per cent to 3,800 head.

The Eastern states restocker lamb indicator gained one cent on 459 cents per kilo hundredweight.

"Merino lambs lifted 1¢ on 407¢, while light lambs were up 2¢ on 436¢/kg cwt," said an MLA analyst.

"Trade lambs increased 5¢ on 456¢, and heavy lambs were 4¢ dearer on 456¢/kg cwt. The mutton indicator remained unchanged on 302¢/kg cwt."

Hamilton trade saw a 25 per cent lift in sheep throughput, which met "very strong" buyer demand.
