Stability in the liveweight lamb market
The price of old season lambs at GB liveweight markets has stabilised in the past week, following the falls seen in the previous seven days.
The old season GB SQQ fell by less than a penny to leave prices at a similar level to the previous week at 181.5p/kg. However, with prices falling in the same week in 2015, this led the gap between the years to narrow, leaving prices just 3p below levels from 2015. Prices began the week above levels from the previous week but by the end of the period they had fallen behind, with the GB SQQ on Wednesday 20 April falling 5p on the week to 175.8p/kg. Prices have remained stable, despite numbers coming to market increasing suggesting that demand has improved in the past week.
