China Bought More Wool in January

CHINA – China’s January wool buying grew in volume but dropped in value year-on-year, says Australia Wool Innovation (AWI).

Global raw wool imports were up 8.5 per cent in quantity, although dropped four per cent in value to US$ 230.84 million.

An AWI spokesperson said that general trade grew 24 per cent, accounting for almost 73 per cent of overall trade.

The spokesperson added: “Processing trade reached 11.02 per cent, with imports up 5 per cent year on year; and imports into bonded zone took up 15.23 per cent, with imports down 31 per cent year on year.”
