Spanish Restocking Grant Grows to €75,000

19 February 2015

SPAIN - A grant assisting Spanish farmers with restocking after disease loss has been increased.

The per farm limit on disease restocking subsidy has been lifted from €60,000 to €75,000, Spain’s ministry of agriculture announced last week.

The package is intended to help farms after slaughter from tuberculosis, bluetongue virus, brucellosis, and transmissible spongiform encephalopathy.

A government spokesperson said: “To receive this aid, farms need to have kept animals for a minimum of two years. No restocking can occur until a minimum quarantine period of three months has expired and restocking will welcome animals from a qualified sanitary farm.”

Autonomous community bodies will manage the funds.
