Bolivians Cull Unauthorized Imported Sheep from Peru

25 August 2014

BOLIVIA – Bolivian authorities have culled 47 sheep of Peruvian origin after the owner failed to produce import documentation.

National Agricultural, Health and Food Safety (SENASAG) technicians said the proprietor could be risking national animal health.

Regional official Robert Gonzales said: “The 47 sheep were slaughtered with the cooperation of military personnel. Sheep feet are considered a high risk threat to biosecurity, potentially transmitting disease and costly epidemiological problems.”
