22 August 2014

AUSTRALIA – Merino lambs enjoyed biggest gains in eastern Australia this week, up 20 cents as lamb prices generally improved.

Lamb supply was steady overall, with some wet weather tightening supply.

This is according to Meat and Livestock Australia, which reported consistent demand for good quality lambs and discounts for secondary quality.

Its National Livestock Reporting Service reported 123,604 head of lambs throughput in Eastern state markets.

Overall, lambs lifted five cents to 480 cents, according to the Eastern States lamb index.
