Texel Gimmers Hit 7000gns at Scottish Premier Sale

SCOTLAND - Texel shearling ewes continue to meet strong demand, with the females at the Scottish National Sale, Lanark, peaking at 7000gns for one from the Ettrick flock of Gordon Gray and family.

The Ettrick sale leader, GGH1303204 is a Knock Papoose daughter out of a dam by Mitchelhill Paparazzi and with an index of 374. She sold to Archie Hamilton, Lanark.

Selling for the evening’s second best call of 5500gns was the pre-sale female and overall champion, Robbie Wilson’s gimmer, LYM1301012, a Teiglum Tornado. She’s out of a Millar’s Outstanding dam and also sold to Mr Hamilton.

Then making 4500gns was the reserve female and reserve overall champion from the pre-sale show, Robert Laird’s LTC1301593. She’s a Cambwell Trademark daughter out of a dam by Cambwell Laird and went to Albert and George Howie’s Knock flock, Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire.

Robbie Wilson then took 3200gns for his second LYM1301131. Another by Tornado and this time out of a Razzle Dazzle dam. She sold to Messrs Armstrong.

At 3000gns was for D McKay’s YMK1300261 (lot 17), a Glenside Topgun daughter out of a Fairywater Olympic dam. She sold to Patrick Donelly, Northern Ireland.

John Forsyth then took 3000gns twice, the first time for FPG1300647, a Mellor Vale The One daughter out of a dam by Strathbogie Python, which sold to Messrs Teward,

The second Glenside glimmer from John Forsyth at this money was FPG1300725 when selling to Stuart Hunter, Aberdeenshire. She’s by Milnbank Tank and out of a Strathbogie Python dam.

Following her at 3000gns was the Watkins family’s WJJ1300313, a Razzle Dazzle daughter out of a dam by Rascarrel Pepermint. She went to Messrs Tooze, Spittal.

Peter Woof then sold at 2600gns for WPS1300439, a Sportsmans Tremendous II daughter out of a dam by Cambwell Mountain. She sold to Andrew Neilson for the Brackenridge flock.

Then at 2500gns was John Forsyth’s gimmer, FPG1300632, another by The One and out of a Clinterty Ronaldo dam. She sold to Messrs Alderson.

Then at 2500gns was WPS1300513 from Peter Woof. She’s another by the Sportsmans Tremendous II and out of a Knock Oyster dam. She sold to Mark Breen, Northern Ireland. Peter Woof also sold WPS1300432, another by the same sire and out of a Mellor Vale Missile dam at 2300gns to Roger Strawbridge, Northern Ireland.

Then at 2100gns was John Mellin’s MJH1303428, a Hilltop Predator daughter out of a dam by Knock Orocco. She sold with an index of 227 to Donald Rankin, Isle of Skye.
