UK - The achievements of levy board AHDB Beef & Lamb in generating demand for Quality Standard Mark (QSM) lamb on the Polish market have been recognised at a prestigious awards ceremony in London.
The organisation was presented with the Breakthrough Trade Award at the Make Europe Work! Business Awards 2016 for its work developing sales of British lamb to Poland, a market which is estimated to be worth £43 million in export sales over the next four years.
The awards, which recognise strategic European trade development, are organised by the Council of British Chambers in Europe (COBCOE).
Head of AHDB Exports Jean-Pierre Garnier said: “Poland offers great opportunities for UK sheep meat exports, thanks to its low domestic production coupled with an increasingly affluent population and growing consumer interest in experimenting with different cuisines.
“The award is testament to the cooperation between the UK industry and the network of the British Polish Chamber of Commerce (BPCC), who we’re working closely to maximise the potential of the market in both the retail and foodservice sectors.”
Marek Schejbal, from the British-Polish Chamber of Commerce, will be presenting on export opportunities in Poland at the AHDB Meat Export Conference in Warwick on 29 June. For more information, or to book a place, visit the AHDB Meat Export Conference webpage.
