Steady Australia Middle East Exports See Saudi Buying Slip

09 October 2015

AUSTRALIA – Sheepmeat exports to the Middle East are steady, with major declined in mutton shipments, particularly to Australia’s largest market, Saudi Arabia.

Overall exports to the region are steady, although back year-on-year compared to what was a strong September.

Australia’s global sheepmeat exports are down overall, although Oman shipments leapt 60 per cent to 733 tonnes shipped weight.

Lamb exports to the region were back four per cent overall, with Jordan dropping 26 per cent of shipments. In contrast, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE all purchased more lamb that September 2015.
