Ovine Pulmonary Adenocarcinoma (OPA) or Jaagsiekte is an infectious tumour in the lungs – a lung cancer. Also known as Jaagsiekte Sheep Retro Virus, transmission of the disease is through close confinement and it is made worse if the sheep are housed for long periods over winter.

It is unclear how it develops or how it can be prevented, but the incubation period is lengthy and the virus could be in flocks for some time before the symptoms develop.

The early signs are similar to chronic pneumonia.
